The city of Cologne plans to expand inspections of street widths across additional neighborhoods. The goal is to ensure that emergency vehicles, especially fire trucks, can pass through without obstruction.
Such measures have already been implemented in areas like Griechenmarkt and Agnesviertel, where parking spaces were removed to meet safety requirements.
The required minimum width is 3.05 meters. This standard is considered necessary for emergency services to operate effectively in critical situations.
Further inspections will be carried out in other districts, although no specific timeline has been announced yet. For now, actions are mainly taken in response to complaints, and fire departments conduct test drives.
As a result, additional parking restrictions may be introduced if streets do not meet the required safety standards.
